There will be a mass of Christian burial on Saturday, May 19 at St. Mary’s Church in Katonah at 11 a.m. Arrangements are being handled by Clark Associates Funeral Home in Katonah.
Michael is survived by his wife and two daughters, Kyla, 15, and Chloe, 13; his brothers, Keith of Katonah and Ryan (Gillian); nephew, Jack; and his mother and father.
Michael was born to Michael and Dorothy Whalen on Oct. 6, 1969 in Yonkers. Michael attended elementary and middle school in Mount Kisco. He graduated from John Jay High School in Cross River, where he played on a baseball team. Michael was an avid softball player, New York Yankee and Jets fan.
Upon graduation from high school, Michael entered the Local Union #3 apprentice program. He attended SUNY College where he graduated with a degree in Labor Studies. Michael was the Vice President of the Westchester Mechanics Association. He was also on the Wage and Policy Committee of Local Union #3.
Michael Worked on construction jobs in New York City as a journeyman and shop steward until he was appointed a business representative for Local Union #3 in 2010, where he represented men and woman of Local Union #3 until his illness forced him to retire in 2012.
